Volume 1 only of 1st Welsh language edition, out-of-print hb in protected tooled & chased full calf leather binding, Crown quarto over 10x7.5inches, 508 pp, illustrated with lots of lovely hand-painted water-colour prints of wild animals drawn from nature by Baron Cuvier, the writer's biographical notes by Washington Irving, richly antique-looking dark brown leather boards with raised bands/gilt 7 tooling on spine, & chased upper/lower boards, about 2" of rear outer join parting, hinges absolutely firm, marbled endpapers & edges, protrait frontis of author & illustrated title page, no inscriptions, wonderfully free from any foxing, showing only vestigial elements of any pg blemishes, insertion of small reinforcement to centre gathering o/w images & textblock excellent.
