1st of this edition (undated mid-late 1800s with printer's 'Cassell Illustrated Bunyan' numbering apparent in gutters of some gatherings' edges), out-of-print hardback in faux morocco cloth, Crown quarto over 10x7.5inches, xvi + 400pp, gravure portrait frontis, 57 illustrations to Part I + 45 illustrations in Part II from engravings, with decorative bordering throughout, illustrated by HC Selous & M Paolo Priolo, with notes by Rev. Robert Maguire, Royal blue boards & spine with gilt decorative/false raised bands quite clean & shelf-rubbed with obvious fray to lower spine join & both extremities, corners chafed, renewed colour endpapers with inner gutters strained but hinges quite firm, 3 small sticker spots on front pastedown, serious foxing to prelims & first few & last pgs, but bulk of textblock remarkably clean with only occasional spotting, dusty edges, good sound reading copy.
